If you placed an order with us, consider it processed
unless we get back to you with questions within the next
few days.  Orders for upgrades to v1.7 will not be ready 
for shipment for 4-6 weeks (as of September 21, 1994).

If you sent us an inquiry that is not answered below, we
will respond personally.  However, to speed the
transmission of information to you, what follows is a list
of the most common questions we have been receiving about
Textures 1.7.

1.  MAY I ORDER BY E-MAIL?

YES.  We accept credit card orders by e-mail.  To place an
order by e-mail, let us know what products you want, where
to ship, and your credit card type, number and expiration.
We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.  Please be aware
that transmitting your credit card number by e-mail is not
necessarily secure.  If you are concerned about the
security of your credit card number, please phone or fax it
instead.  For upgrades, be sure to include your Textures
serial number.

2.  I HEAR AN UPGRADE TO TEXTURES 1.7 IS AVAILABLE, HOW MUCH
DOES IT COST?

Version 1.7 is Blue Sky Research's "Customer Request Release." 
A year ago, we asked our customers what they wanted in Textures.
Version 1.7 is the first tangible result of that input.  In this 
upgrade, you will find:

Color in TeX!  Every color of the rainbow, on your screen and to
your printer.  Easy to use with LaTeX2e color styles.

Immediate viewing aids and tools to make the typeset window
quick and easy.  Including a ruler for on screen measurements,
scrolling by "hand", shrink and magnify, and two-up page display.

Plus brace matching, automatic font downloading for most ESPF 
illustrations, custom wrap options, multiple/recursive folder 
searching, fit to width, logical page selection, PostScript preamble 
definition, high resolution typeset copy and paste.

The cost of the update with 1.7 User Guide:
                                             $69 from 1.6
                                             $99 from 1.5
                                             $149 from other versions.

POWER PC TEXTURES

Optional with Textures 1.7, our native PPC TeX engine delivers the 
highest performance Textures ever!  To receive a PowerPC version
of 1.7, add $100 to the above prices.

LATEX2E

This optional package includes a precompiled LaTeX2e format, and
allows you to run new and old versions of LaTeX side-by-side for
an easy transition.  Includes four AMS-PostScript fonts plus your 
choice of The LaTeX Companion or the revised edition of LaTeX: A
Documentation Preparation System.  Requires version 1.7.
The cost is $45.
Without a manual, the cost is $15.

To run Classic Textures, you will need the Adobe Type Manager.  ATM
is essential for good screen display and for printing to non-PostScript 
printers.  You can order version 3.6 from us for $12.  Version 3.8
is the native code version of ATM, which Blue Sky plans to carry, and
costs $60.

Classic Textures requires at least System 6.0.5 and 2.5MB RAM.  With 
System 7, we recommend a minimum of 4MB RAM.


3.  WAIT! I JUST BOUGHT TEXTURES 1.6.  DO I GET A FREE
UPGRADE?

YES. If you purchased Textures 1.6 in the months of August, 
Septmeber or October and you have registered with us, you 
should receive a free Textures 1.7 upgrade (non-PowerPC)
around November.  If you haven't sent in your registration 
card, be sure to do so, because otherwise we won't be able 
to find you to send your upgrade.

4.  WHEN WILL LATEX2E BE SUPPORTED BY BLUE SKY?

Blue Sky is integrating LaTeX2e into version 1.7.  New 
purchases of Classic Textures include LaTeX2e.  For upgraders
to version 1.7, the cost is $15 and includes a precompiled 
LaTeX2e format that allows you to run new and old versions 
of LaTeX side-by-side for an easy transition.  It also includes 
four AMS-PostScript fonts

5. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TEXTURES, LIGHTNING
TEXTURES AND CLASSIC TEXTURES?

Textures is the generic name for our Macintosh TeX
systems.  Lightning Textures is the Textures application
with our interactive interface to TeX, introduced as an
option with Textures 1.5, and now a standard part of any
new or upgraded Textures package.  Classic Textures is a
software bundle that includes our Lightning Textures
application, our Computer Modern PostScript fonts and the
LaTeX macros and styles.  Upgrades to version 1.7 will
give you all the current system pieces, including 
the Computer Modern PostScript fonts.

6. IS THERE ACADEMIC PRICING FOR THE UPGRADE?

No. We decided to offer everyone the lowest possible price
we could, so we are not offering additional discounts for
academic users on upgrades.  Academic pricing is available
for new purchases, and for the Lucida Bright/NewMath fonts.
